All Weekend - 2012 Manayunk On Ice Festival Features “Ice Carvers” and “Master Carvers” Competition, with the Romantic Theme of “Passion”

Although there are events all weekend for couples and families, this is particularly noteworthy on the weekend dedicated to love:

"“The NICA Ice Carving Competition, taking place on Saturday from 11 am – 3 pm at various locations along Main Street, will allow visitors to watch as professional ice carvers from around the country and the world create ice masterpieces based on the theme of “Passion” in honor of Valentine’s Day weekend.”

There’s also this unique Friday event:

“During the Fire & Ice Opening Ceremony on Friday night at 7 pm, visitors will watch the 25-ft. high ice bonfire melt to the ground while enjoying music, fire and ice themed fashions from local retailers, samples of food from local restaurants participating in the Fiery Food’s contest, and samples of mixed spirits created by local bartenders participating in the Icy Spirit’s contest. Guests can then vote for their favorite food and spirit and a Fire and Ice King/Queen will be crowned at the event.

The 25-ft. blaze, which can be seen from as far away as the Schuylkill Expressway, can best be viewed by spectators at the event site on the Venice Island Parking lot, located at Main and Carson Streets, the Manayunk Tow Path, or Canal View Park on Main Street.”

We’d recommend that you check out the entire schedule at manayunk.com.
