Valentine’s Day 2011 Philadelphia Hotels – Center City - Penn's Landing
Amour Package from the Hyatt Regency Penn’s Landing - Convenient to the Delaware Riverfront Entertainment and Attractions, As Well as Historic Sites in Old City Philadelphia and Society Hill - 215.928.1234 - Starts at $189
The Hyatt Regency Penn’s Landing is located at Penn’s Landing, conveniently situated to the many attractions, along the Delaware Riverfront. Their Valentine’s Day package, titled Amour, offers free breakfast, champagne, and dessert, starting at $189.
The Hyatt Regency is also a relatively short walk or cab ride from the many historic sites, concentrated in Hyatt Regency Penn’s Landing is located at Old City Philadelphia.
Prominent examples are the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, which are across the street from each other, between 5th and 6th Streets and Market and Chestnut Streets. In addition, Independence Visitor Center, always the best place to begin your visit to the city, is located at 6th and Market Streets. For those places, you’re better off with the cab, especially since it will be cold.
You’re somewhat closer to Society Hill, which is the best place for romantic walks, due to its cobblestoned streets and many 18th-century homes, from the early Federal period – you can opt for walking or the cab, depending on the weather and your mood.
Finally, the Hyatt Regency Penn's Landing also offers a spectacular view of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, as it spans the Delaware River over to Camden, New Jersey, which has several attractions of its own along the river. For more information - its address is 201 S. Columbus Blvd, Philadelphia, PA 19106, and you can call 215.928.1234.
Valentine’s Weekend Package from the Penn’s View Hotel - Also on Penn’s Landing, And Convenient to Historic Philadelphia - 215.922.7600 – Packages Start at $199
This is another solid choice. The Penn’s View Hotel is a boutique hotel, smaller than the Hyatt Regency Penn's Landing, and it’s closer to Old City. Its official address is 14 N. Front Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106 - "Front" being the equivalent of "1st Street", referring to the Delaware River waterfront.
Valentine’s Day 2011 Philadelphia Hotels – Center City – Extremely Upscale
If money is no object, these choices in Center City might be for you… Obviously, these are rather pricey, but if you have the means, they are the top-of-the-line hotels.
Art of Romance Package from the Ritz-Carlton – 10 Avenue of the Arts - 215.523.8000 - Starts at $379
The Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia is located right in the heart of the city, on South Broad Street, just below City Hall. (Broad Street and the Avenue of the Arts are the same street.)
Romantic Escape and Sweet Suite Packages from the Four Seasons – 1 Logan Square (i.e., Logan Circle) – 215.963.1500 - Starting at $425 and $495, Respectively
The Four Seasons has one of the best locations in Philadelphia – directly on Logan Circle and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
The Romantic Escape Package includes breakfast for two, either in its Fountain Restaurant or via room service, a box of chocolates, late 2 PM checkout, and valet parking.
The Sweet Suite Package offers a $100 Hotel Credit per day (we’re still not entirely sure what that means, but it’s probably of value to those of you who frequent luxury hotels).
Valentine’s Day 2011 Philadelphia Hotels – Center City – Pennsylvania Convention Center District, East of Broad Street

Valentine’s Day 2011 Philadelphia Hotels – Center City - Broad Street / Avenue of the Arts
Amour Package from the Hyatt at the Bellevue – Located on Broad Street, the Avenue of the Arts - Close to City Hall, Rittenhouse Square And Within Cab Distance of Old City – Call 215.893.1234 – Packages Start From $249
The Hyatt at the Bellevue places you directly in the heart of Center City Philadelphia. Located at the intersection of Broad and Walnut Streets – its formal address is 200 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102 - it is on the Avenue of the Arts, and offers easy access to the many performing arts venues on Broad Street, south of City Hall.
It also boasts the XIX Restaurant. Also known as Nineteen, due to its location on the 19th floor, atop the building, it is a prominent, fine-dining brasserie, high above Broad Street. It offers an incredible view of the Philadelphia skyline, particularly at night.
And since there isn't much daylight in February, by the time you're having dinner, night will have already fallen over the city, and you'll have a tremendous view of the skyline.
It also has upscale shopping in the Shops at the Bellevue, located in the same building, so if you’re looking for gifts for your significant others, it’s a good place to try.
The Hyatt at the Bellevue’s Amour Package is similar to that of its sister hotel at Penn’s Landing. You’ll receive full breakfast, champagne and dessert, as well as late, 2:00 PM checkout. Packages start at $249.
It is located just two blocks south of Philadelphia City Hall. Accordingly, if you have the opportunity to be in the city, during the business day on Friday, February 11, or Monday, February 14, we’d strongly recommend that you take the opportunity to ascend to the observation deck at Philadelphia City Hall Tower. (It's only open during business hours, unfortunately.)
You can stand, literally, in the brim of the hat of the gigantic statue of William Penn, and enjoy the stunning views of the city in all directions. Although fun any time of the year, it’s particularly enjoyable for a couple, on Valentine’s Day weekend.
You’ll also have the opportunity, of course, to check out events at the Kimmel Center, the Academy of Music, etc., if there’s a performance you’re interested in, during that weekend.
Also, you’re not too far from Old City, although we’d recommend the cab, due to the cold weather. Broad Street is the equivalent of the nonexistent 14th Street, and the big-name historical sites don’t begin until 7th Street, and go east from there to Front Street (the equivalent of the nonexistent 1st Street). So you’d be doing a lot of walking in the cold. Take the cab!
Of the two Hyatt offers- we would recommend that you go with the Hyatt at Penn's Landing, since it is both less expensive and more convenient to Old City. That having been said, the Bellevue is much closer than the Hyatt Penn's Landing, to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and its attractions. So, if you're more interested in those sites, the Bellevue would be more convenient.

Romance Package from the Courtyard by Marriott Philadelphia Downtown – Located on Juniper Street, In the Very Shadow of City Hall – Call 215.496.3200 – Packages Start From $199
If you’d like to be really close to City Hall, the Courtyard by Marriott Philadelphia Downtown is the best choice. It’s located at 21 North Juniper Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107; Juniper is a small side street, and it’s just northeast of City Hall, which is located at Broad and Market Streets.
The Courtyard’s Romance packages offers couples an “Executive King Room”, which provides an oversize room with a nice view (presumably of City Hall), a King bed and a living room, as well as a breakfast buffet for two and late, 3:00 PM checkout.

Honeymoon Package from the Rittenhouse Hotel – 210 Rittenhouse Square - Call 215.546.9000 – Packages Start From $832
This package from the Rittenhouse Hotel is much more expensive, because this is a honeymoon package, not a Valentine’s Day one, per se, and it’s available through the end of 2011. Nonetheless, if you haven’t made your honeymoon plans yet (or you plan to elope, suddenly), you might find this to be of some value.
Valentine’s Day 2011 Philadelphia Hotels – University City and Points West
Godiva Getaway Package from the Sheraton University City Philadelphia – 3549 Chestnut Street - Call 215.387.8000 – Packages Start From $184
Romance Package from the Hilton Inn at Penn Philadelphia – 3600 Sansom Street - Call 215.222.0200 – Packages Start From $299
Valentine’s Package from the Crowne Plaza Philadelphia West – 4010 City Avenue – Call 215.477.0200 – Packages Start From $159
Although this is a very good deal, you have to be cognizant of the fact that the Crowne Plaza Philadelphia West is, in fact, extremely far west – so western, that it resides on City Line Avenue, the border between the city and neighboring, suburban Montgomery County. It's significantly further west than University City, where the Sheraton University City and the Hilton Inn at Penn are located. While they are west of Center City, it's within convenient SEPTA travel and if necessary, a taxicab.
For this reason, the Crowne Plaza Philadelphia West is not convenient at all, to the vast majority of tourist attractions in Center City. As a result, you’ll have to drive downtown, via the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) and that is the one major highway in the region that is particularly prone to traffic snarls.

If you are from out of town, you might want to consider these offers, due to their proximity to Philadelphia International Airport.
