Campo's Deli - 215.923.1000 - 214 Market Street - Located on Market Street between 2nd and 3rd Streets. Inexpensive, mom-and-pop, cheese steak and sandwich place operated by the Campo family - which has been in Old City since 1947, when it was much less trendy than it is today.
Old City Asian Bistro - 215.922.6222 (incredibly easy number to remember) - 206 Market Street - Located on Market, between 2nd and 3rd Streets. Old City Cheese Shop - 215.238.1716 - 160 North 3rd Street - Located on 3rd Street, between Arch and Race Streets. Don't let the name fool you - it isn't just a cheese shop; there's a restaurant. It opened in the fall of 2006, replacing Petit 4 Bakery.
Beneluxx Tasting Room - 267.318.7269 - 33 South 3rd Street, Lower Level (i.e., basement speakeasy level) - Located on 3rd Street, between Market and Chestnut Streets.

Sonny's Famous Steaks - 215.629.5760 - 228 Market Street - Located on Market Street, between 2nd and 3rd Streets. It's not our favorite cheese steak place, but it's a convenient, inexpensive location if you're out enjoying Old City.

European Republic - 215.627.5500 - 213 Chestnut Street - Located on Chestnut Street, between 2nd and 3rd Streets - but a better way of describing it is the intersection between Chestnut and Strawberry Streets.
This is a very difficult location, as several other restaurants - Meju (Korean), Mandoline, Dardanelles, Sabooor!, and Tropico - all tried their luck here. This is an European style, Belgian pommes frites place, which has recently opened. Perhaps European Republic will break the jinx on this spot.
