Friday, October 28, 2011 - Halloween Art After 5 Event- Halloween Dance Party with the Ghost Train Orchestra at the Philadelphia Museum of Art
In October 2011, it’s not just Rembrandt and the Face of Jesus, this year, at the Art Museum. The Philadelphia Museum of Art - as part of its weekly Art After 5 programming, on Friday nights - will be staging a Halloween event on Friday, October 28. See the great works by the 17th-century Dutch master by day, and the Halloween Dance Party by night. And the art doesn’t stop at 5 PM, either, as you can enjoy a Spooky Art tour of the Art Museum, throughout the Museum’s more macabre holdings.
Brian Carpenter’s aptly-named Ghost Train Orchestra will be providing Halloween hot jazz and cartoon medleys from the 1920s, ‘30s, and ‘40s, at the Halloween Dance Party. There will be live jazz and swing music performances at this lively, jazz and swing themed Halloween party, with tarot-card readings thrown in. And of course, visitors are enthusiastically encouraged to wear their costumes!
And to top it off - the event is free, if you decide to visit the Art Museum that day - it's included in your admission price. The event will run from 5:00 PM to 8:45 PM. (Last Halloween - 2010 - the Spooky Art tour was announced as starting at 7:00 PM.)
Also, remember that the Art Museum will also host its weekly Art After 5 programming on all other October Fridays - the 7th, 14th, and 21st of the month, for the same hours and same price.
