Philadelphia Halloween Parties 2010 For Adults, Around the City

There are so many Philadelphia Halloween Parties 2010, that are aimed at adults, that they were no longer fitting into our main October 2010 Things to Do in Philadelphia Guide.

And we figured that we'd be better off spinning off this page from the main one. Accordingly, we've decided to give Philadelphia Halloween Parties 2010 their own page...

If you'd like to look ahead, we also have our ever-growing Guide to November 2010 Things to Do in Philadelphia.

Happy Halloween - Enjoy!

Philadelphia Halloween Parties 2010 - Northern Liberties

Finnigan's Wake Offers "A Celtic Spooktacular" Weekend, Friday, October 29, Is John DeBella's 4th Annual Masquerade Bash, and Saturday October 30, Is "Walk the Dead Carpet", With A Costume Contest for the Best Dead Celebrity

On Friday night, at 8:00 PM, Finnigan's Wake - the official starting point for the hip neighborhood of Northern Liberties - kicks off "A Celtic Spooktacular Weekend" festivities, with John DeBella's 4th Annual Masquerade Bash.

The Masquerade Bash will feature a costume contest - $1000 for first place, $500 for second place, $250 for third place - a hot buffet, prizes (concert tickets, etc.) Most uniquely - in keeping with the historical fact that Finnigan's Wake had previously been a coffin factory, prior to becoming a nightclub:

There will be an actual casket, full of free candy, for Halloween revelers.

Admission is $10 in cash, or you can donate a new, unwrapped toy for the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots program.

Saturday, October 30, and Sunday, October 31 - The "Philamazing Halloween Race" Takes Place on Both Days, With Prizes For Not Only High Finishers, But Best Costume

The Philamazing Halloween Race - the next best thing to embarking upon the actual CBS one hosted by Phil Keoghan, the marvelously entertaining scavenger hunt around the world - will be staged on both Saturday, October 30, and Sunday, October 31.

Tickets per individual on Saturday, are $45, but $35 in advance; for Sunday, they are $50, but likewise, $35 in advance. Check-in for Saturday is 11:30 AM, race starts at 12:00 noon. Check-in for Sunday is 3:00 - 3:30 PM, with the race starting at 4:00 PM.

For registration information, visit www.philamazingrace.com.

Participants should meet up at The Elephant and Castle Pub and Restaurant at 1800 Market Street (one of our favorite places, BTW).

While you probably won't have to bungee jump off William Penn's hat on top of Philadelphia City Hall Tower, this is nonetheless physically challenging, and you'll have to sign a waiver before Philamazing Race will permit you to buy a ticket.

And in another dissimilarity to the CBS version of The Amazing Race, you won't be going home with a cool $1 million by winning either race on Halloween weekend. But there are cash prizes, though, in addition to the glory.
