Saturday, May 21 - Noon to 5 PM - The Rittenhouse Row Spring Festival 2011 Will Take Place in Philadelphia's Most Beautiful Square
On Saturday, May 21, tens of thousands of people will converge upon Rittenhouse Square, for the Rittenhouse Row Spring Festival. This square - the most elegant and beautiful of William Penn's original five squares - will be hosting a superb street fair with events tailored for visitors of all ages. From cocktail samples and restaurant booths for the adults, to face-painting and games designed for children, it is well worth a visit. And it's free.
The Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta Will Take Place on Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14, on the Schuylkill River
Rowing clubs and collegiate rowing teams will be descending upon Philadelphia from all over the nation, to compete in the historic, prestigious Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta, held every spring on the Schuylkill River. While you are there, check out the extremely cool boathouses on Boathouse Row, many of which have been there since Victorian times.

During every Friday in May 2011, the Philadelphia Museum of Art hosts its "Art After 5" entertainment, from 5:00 PM to 8:45 PM. There is a different theme for each week's event. During May 2011, the weekly entertainment schedule offered to patrons is:

The Philadelphia Orchestra Will Be Performing Beethoven's Ninth Symphony on May 19, May 21 May 22 and May 24 at Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center
One of the most famous works by one of the most renowned composers of all time – with luster only added to his legend by the devotion of the Peanuts character Schroeder – will be performed four times in May 2011. The performances of Ludwig van Beethoven's Ninth Symphony on Thursday, May 19, Saturday, May 21, and Tuesday, May 24, all begin at 8 PM; the Sunday, May 22, performance is a matinee which starts at 2 PM.
